'Springtime' by Alexandrov:

Conference and film projection

Double Visions

Springtime, by Grigory Aleksandrov, is a great masterpiece of the Soviet musical comedy, a delicious film on the theme of improbable look-alikes (an austere scientist and an operetta singer ...).  As a prelude to the screening, Irina Krasnyanskaya will give us a short lecture on the great composer of the music of this film (and many others ...), Isaac Dounayevsky, extremely famous in Russia but still little known in the West.
Passes available from May 1st at the NDG Cultural Center.
May 15, 2019 7pm
Centre culturel Notre-Dame-de-Grâce
Iro-Valaskakis-Tembeck hall

Chamber Music Recital

Celestial visions

After his triumphant recital in 2018, pianist Ilya Poletaev returns with his two accomplices of the Montreal Trio, violinist Axel Strauss and cellist Yegor Dyachkov. All three professors at McGill University, each pursuing a leading international career, they will join forces for our greatest pleasure in a program associating Dvořák's trio Dumky with Shostakovich's first trio.

Closing concert

Fugitive Visions: Dancing Pictures

Our closing concert, combining music and painting, promises to be an exceptional event! Around the orchestral version of Prokofiev's Fugitive Visions and musical jewels by Bach, Brahms, Stravinsky and Shostakovich, we will immerse ourselves in the heart of the unusual and delirious world of the painter Natasha Turovsky, thanks to a flamboyant mix of animated paintings and music that will conclude our exploration of Slavic and Russian musical visions.
